Soite’s area remains in the community transmission phase – 5 new coronavirus cases

The Central Ostrobothnia regional COVID-19 authority task group met on Wednesday 26th of May 2021 to assess the regional coronavirus situational picture and recommendations. Soite’s area remains in the community transmission phase of the coronavirus epidemic. Changes were made to the regional recommendations for distance learning on the upper secondary school level as well as for hobbies. The time the recommendations will remain in effect was extended until the 15th of June 2021. Five new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Soite’s area.

The number of coronavirus infections have begun to decrease, but the situation is still serious. The incidence of infections during 14 days is 204/100.000 residents in the entire Soite area. The majority of the new infections have been confirmed in people who were already in quarantine, but infections are still also being confirmed among people who are not in quarantine, and mass exposures in schools and at workplaces are also being reported. 1.7% of the coronavirus tests are positive. Three COVID-19 patients are currently being treated at the Central Ostrobothnian central hospital.

Special measures have been taken at the Central Ostrobothnian central hospital and at Soite’s housing service units to prevent the spread of the virus to Soite’s units. Safety measures and screening of patients for coronavirus infections have been intensified at the central hospital.

The authority task group made the following changes to the regional recommendations:

  • Upper secondary institutes in the area are in distance learning until the end of the semester.
  • Hobby activities outdoors in groups of max 10 people are possible if the corona safety instructions are followed.
  • Outdoors, in hobby groups for children and young people, Soite’s recommendations regarding restrictions on gatherings (max 10 persons) during the community transmission phase should be followed.

It is recommended that celebrations of the end of the semester in schools as well as upper secondary school graduations are held on a small scale without an audience and that safety distances and hygiene recommendations are taken into account. The coronavirus situation may still change quickly. More specific recommendations on how to arrange celebrations may be issued next week, if necessary.

The new recommendations remain in effect until the 15th of June 2021. All current regulations and recommendations regarding the coronavirus epidemic within Soite’s area are listed on Soite’s corona website:

In order for the coronavirus situation to calm down before summer, it is important that everyone carefully follows the recommendations regarding social gatherings and the hygiene recommendations for prevention of the spread of infections. It is now important to keep the number of close contacts to a minimum and to be mindful of proper use of face masks as well as to maintain a safety distance of 2 meters and exercise good hand hygiene. Unnecessary social gatherings should be avoided!

The regional COVID-19 authority task group has its actual next meeting on Wednesday June 2nd 2021.
