Soite continues in the acceleration phase when it comes to the coronavirus epidemic — one new coronavirus cases
The Central Ostrobothnia regional COVID-19 group of authorities had a meeting on Wednesday 9th of June 2021 in order to assess the situational picture and the regional recommendations. The group of authorities decided that Soite’s area continues in the acceleration phase of the coronavirus epidemic and that the time the current recommendations remain in effect is extended to 17th of June 2021. One new coronavirus case has been confirmed in Soite’s area.
The number of new coronavirus cases has quickly begun to decrease, but the epidemic has not died down yet and coronavirus infections are confirmed in many parts of the country. That is why it is still important to follow the hygiene instructions and the regional recommendations associated with preventing coronavirus infections. Thanks to coronavirus vaccinations, we are gradually moving towards a more normal life.
One new coronavirus case has been confirmed in Soite’s area during the beginning of the week. The infected person was already in quarantine. The incidence is currently 37.7/100 000 citizens in Soite’s area when it comes to the last 14 days (7.6.2021). 0.4 % of the coronavirus tests are positive. One person who has been infected with the coronavirus is cared for at the Central Ostrobothnia Central Hospital. Approximately 30 persons are now in quarantine and in home isolation in Soite’s area.
In accordance with the decision by the group of authorities, Soite’s area continues in the acceleration phase of the coronavirus epidemic. The regional recommendations are not changed. The regional recommendations are in effect until the 17th of June 2021. All the regional regulations and recommendations regarding the coronavirus epidemic within Soite’s area are listed on Soite’s corona website.
The coronavirus vaccinations are progressing relatively well in the area. On Thursday 10th of June 2021, the appointment booking for vaccinations opens for all persons over the age of 16 in the area in the Omahoito service. After that, all age groups that have a right to a vaccination (persons over the age of 16) can get vaccinated in Soite’s area. The coronavirus vaccinations take us towards a more normal life — one vaccination at a time! A vaccine gives you protection against the serious form of the coronavirus disease and if you are vaccinated you help protect others. You can follow how the vaccinations progress in the area with the help of Soite’s corona vaccination indicator, which is updated on Mondays.
THL has updated its guidelines (in Finnish) regarding persons who have been vaccinated twice. If you are fully vaccinated, it is fairly safe to meet other people without a mask and without keeping safe distances when:
- You meet other persons who are fully vaccinated in a private space indoors, e.g. at home or at a summer house. The risk of getting infected is very low in such a situation.
- You meet persons who haven’t been vaccinated and who belong to the same household in a private space indoors. You visit e.g. family friends in their home. A prerequisite is that none of the unvaccinated persons belong to a risk group for severe coronavirus disease. In such a situation, both you and the others who are present run only a low risk of being infected.
The recommendation by THL on the use of face masks e.g. in public transport, schools and public spaces remains unchanged both when it comes to persons who have been vaccinated and persons who have not been vaccinated. Soite’s regional recommendations on the use of face masks state in what kind of places and situations a face mask should be used. If you have symptoms, you should refrain from meeting other people and go to a test even if you have been vaccinated. More information can be found in the press release by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare THL.
The Central Ostrobothnia regional COVID-19 group of authorities has its next meeting on Wednesday 16th of June 2021 in order to assess the regional coronavirus situation and recommendations. If the regional coronavirus situation remains calm, the possibility of easing the regional recommendations and transferring to the baseline of the coronavirus epidemic may be considered before midsummer.
