Current coronavirus information in Soite’s area on the 14th of March 2022 – the number of coronavirus infections is on an all-time high in Soite’s area
The number of coronavirus cases is still very high in Soite’s area. The need of hospital care is also still great. During last week (week 10), 1,069 new coronavirus cases were confirmed in Soite’s tests. This is the highest number that has been confirmed by Soite in a week during the pandemic. Last week, 1,900 coronavirus tests were taken. The share of positive test results was 55%. Positive results in home tests are not included in these numbers, and the real number is thus even higher. The risk of infection is currently very high in Soite’s area and that is why we continue to remind of the importance of safety measures associated with the coronavirus.

Soite begins using Novovax’ coronavirus vaccine Nuvaxovid at Kokkola vaccination central
The coronavirus vaccine Nuvaxovid is taken into use at Kokkola vaccination central alongside other coronavirus vaccines. It is possible to get the Nuvaxovid vaccine on Wednesday 16th of March by booking an appointment to Kokkola vaccination central. The Nuvaxovid vaccine is used for first and second vaccinations for persons over the age of 18. The Nuvaxovid vaccine is suitable for almost all adults. For example, having previously had coronavirus disease is not a contraindication for vaccination.

Current Coronavirus Information in Soite’s Area on the 7th of March 2022
The number of coronavirus infections has increased in the Soite area. During last week (week 9), a total of 823 new coronavirus infections were confirmed in Soite’s tests. Last week, 1,708 coronavirus tests were taken. The share of positive tests was 48%. Not all infections come to the knowledge of Soite’s health care professionals, as home testing is recommended as the primary testing method. Fifteen COVID-19 positive patients are currently being treated at Central Ostrobothnia central hospital. There are currently no coronavirus patients in intensive care.

Current Coronavirus Information in Soite’s Area on February 28th 2022
The number of coronavirus infections remains high in Soite’s area and has increased somewhat. During last week (week 8), 788 new coronavirus cases were confirmed in Soite’s tests. Last week, 1,749 coronavirus tests were taken. The share of positive test results was 44.5%. All infections do not come to the knowledge of Soite’s health care professionals, as home testing is recommended as the primary testing method. Eight patients with COVID-19 are currently being treated at Central Ostrobothnia Central Hospital. No patients with COVID-19 are currently treated in intensive care.

The number of coronavirus infections in still high in Soite’s area. During last week (week 7), a total of 650 new coronavirus infections were confirmed in the Soite area. Five patients with COVID-19 are treated at the Central Ostrobothnian Central Hospital. It is especially important to take the coronavirus vaccine as the quickly spreading omicron variant is present in the area

Appointment-free walk-in coronavirus vaccination afternoon for children aged 5 to 11 — vaccination appointments available also with appointment booking
Coronavirus vaccinations for all children aged 5 to 11 will be arranged by appointment at Soite’s vaccination centrals, as well as on appointment free walk-in vaccination days. The next appointment-free walk-in afternoon for vaccinations of children aged 5 to 11 will be arranged at Soite’s children’s hospital (lastensairaala) Tuesday 8th of March 4 pm to 7 pm. We give first doses as well as booster doses both during the walk-in afternoon and during pre-booked appointments. The second dose can be given when at least six weeks have passed since the first vaccination.

During last week (week 6), a total of 594 new coronavirus infections were confirmed in Soite’s tests. Last week, circa 1,600 coronavirus tests were taken. The share of positive tests was 38%. Not all infections come to the knowledge of Soite’s health care professional, as home testing is recommended as the primary testing method. Seven COVID-19 positive patients are currently being treated at Central Ostrobothnia central hospital.

Current Coronavirus Information in Soite’s Area on the 7th of February 2022
The number of coronavirus infections has remained on the same level for a couple of weeks in the Soite area. The number of infections is still high, but it has not increased significantly. During last week (week 5), a total of 614 new coronavirus infections were confirmed in the Soite area. Last week, circa 1,656 coronavirus tests were taken. Home testing is recommended as the primary method for confirming a coronavirus infection, and for this reason, the number of coronavirus tests taken in Soite last week was lower than before. The share of positive tests was 37 %. Four COVID-19 positive patients are currently being treated at Central Ostrobothnia central hospital.

Isolation and Quarantine Practices for Persons Who are Infected with or Have Been Exposed to COVID-19 Will Change in Soite
The coronavirus infections are increasing quickly in Soite’s area, and the current isolation and quarantine practices are no longer sufficient to control the spread of the epidemic. Similarly to other hospital districts, Soite’s area will, as of 3rd of February 2022, no longer issue isolation orders to an extensive degree.
