Soite continues in the community transmission phase — the recommendation on remote work and the extensive recommendation on the use of face masks is in effect
Information on the 13th of October 2021
The Central Ostrobothnia regional COVID-19 group of authorities had a meeting on Wednesday 13th of October 2021 in order to assess the situational picture and the regional recommendations. The coronavirus situation is still serious in Soite’s area. Soite continues in the community transmission phase when it comes to the coronavirus epidemic. It is recommended that possibilities to work remotely are utilised in the area. The extensive recommendation on the use of face masks is in effect for now.
The coronavirus situation is still serious in the area. The regional incidence is currently 123/100 000 citizens in 14 days. 26 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Soite’s area this week. The number of coronavirus tests has increased and last week, a total of 1389 were taken. 4.1% of these were positive. Five patients with COVID-19 are treated at the moment at the Central Ostrobothnia Central Hospital.
Coronavirus infections are mainly occurring among unvaccinated persons and persons who have only recently been vaccinated. Infections are occurring most commonly among 10–19-year-old persons and second most commonly among persons under the age of ten and in the age group 30–39-year-olds. The average age among those who have been infected is currently 33 years. Most of those who have been infected have been infected in the family circle.
In accordance with the decision by the group of authorities, Soite’s area continues in the community transmission phase when it comes to the coronavirus epidemic. The regional recommendations remain for the most part unchanged. All the regional regulations and recommendations regarding the coronavirus epidemic within Soite’s area are listed on Soite’s coronavirus website: https://korona.soite.fi/en/recommendations/
The group of authorities discussed the recommendation on remote work and the regional, extensive recommendation on the use of face masks. When it comes to remote work, it is recommended that employers utilise a so called hybrid model where some of the work is, if possible, done remotely in turns, so that only a part of the personnel present at the workplace at the same time. The recommendation on remote work is in effect in Soite’s area until the 31st of October 2021. It is also recommended that breaks are held in smaller groups at workplaces, that social distancing is practised and that meetings are held in a coronavirus safe way.
The extensive recommendation on the use of face masks is still in effect in Soite’s area and remains in effect for now. The recommendation on the use of face masks is, thus, also still in effect in the schools and educational institutions in the area. Use of a face mask is recommended for all persons older than 12, even those who have been vaccinated:
- in public places such as shops and in other places outside the home
- at the lower secondary schools in the area (grades 7-9)
- at upper secondary institutes (vocational training and general upper secondary schools) as well as higher education institutions and universities in the area
- in public transport, in school transport and when transporting people who belong to a risk group
- when going to a social or health care unit
- when going to a coronavirus test
- when returning to Finland from a risk country
- Use of face masks is also recommended in other situations, both indoors and outdoors, if it is impossible to maintain safe distances.
The group of authorities reminds everyone that one should not move outside the home if one has even just mild symptoms of a respiratory infection. It is recommended that those who have not been vaccinated or who have received only one dose of the vaccine seek out coronavirus testing without delay and even if they have only very mild symptoms of a respiratory infection.
We still recommend that you avoid gatherings, follow hygiene guidelines for preventing infections, and use a face mask in accordance with regional recommendations.
We strongly recommend getting a full vaccination series, as it is difficult to avoid the disease in the future. The society is opening up and the restrictions connected to the coronavirus epidemic are lifted nationally, but the coronavirus is not disappearing. The effect of vaccines is seen clearly in the current epidemiological situation, as the infections are mainly concentrated to unvaccinated persons and persons who have only recently been vaccinated. It is significantly safer to encounter the coronavirus if you are vaccinated. The risks associated with the vaccine are significantly smaller than those associated with a coronavirus infection. Vaccinations are now mainly given on walk-in vaccination days without appointment booking, which means you can come to a coronavirus vaccination when it suits you best. The schedule for the walk-in days can be found on Soite’s coronavirus website: https://korona.soite.fi/en/the-coronavirus-vaccines/ The Central Ostrobothnia regional COVID-19 group of authorities has its next meeting on Wednesday 20th of October 2021 in order to assess the regional coronavirus situation and recommendations. If the regional coronavirus situation changes, the group of authorities gathers for a meeting if needed. The group of authorities consists of experts from the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare THL, the Regional State Administrative Agency, the Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment as well as Soite.
