As a precaution, all pupils and the personnel at the school Lestin koulu (classes 0-9) will be tested for the coronavirus on Monday morning 14th of September 2020. Pupils with symptoms are asked to avoid school transport, but the parents should bring the children for testing. After the tests, the pupils will be in distance education.
As a further precaution, it is prohibited to visit the senior housing unit Kotipirtti in Lestijärvi. All residents and the personnel at Kotipirtti will be tested for the coronavirus. These tests have already begun.
A recommendation on the use of face masks applies to Central Ostrobothnia. A face mask is one method for preventing the spread of coronavirus infections.
The use of face masks is recommended for people over the age of 15:
- in public transport
- when going to coronavirus tests
- when returning to Finland from a risk country
- face masks can also be used in other situations, if it is impossible to maintain safe social distances.
It is, however, still of utmost importance to maintain a safety distance of 1–2 meters anytime this is possible, to wash one’s hands, to cough into one’s elbow or into a disposable handkerchief, to avoid touching one’s face and to avoid public places if one has symptoms.
