Information on the 21st of June 2021 on the situational picture in Soite’s area when it comes to the coronavirus epidemic

The current situation of infection

No new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Soite’s area during the past week. The latest coronavirus case was confirmed on Tuesday the 8th of June 2021. One person who has been infected with the coronavirus is cared for at the Central Ostrobothnia Central Hospital.

The key figures in the situational picture have been updated:

  • The number of coronavirus cases during the last 14 days: 1 (a week ago: 6)
  • The incidence of infections during the last 14 days/100 000 citizens: 1.3 (a week ago: 7.7)
  • One person who has been infected with the coronavirus is cared for at the Central Ostrobothnia Central Hospital.
  • 0% of the coronavirus tests are positive (a week ago: 0.1%). During week 23, 947 coronavirus tests were taken.
  • The number of coronavirus infections that have been confirmed in Soite since the pandemic began: 480
  • The epidemiological situation in Central Ostrobothnia: base level

The Finentry service is taken into use today 21st of June 2021 in Central Ostrobothnia. FINENTRY ( is a digital service that is used on a browser. It makes travelling to Finland and coronavirus testing in connection with travelling to Finland easier during the coronavirus pandemic. More information in a separate message.

The coronavirus vaccinations of the citizens are progressing well in Soite’s area. The vaccinations of the citizens are now progressing with regards to all persons over the age of 16. On Tuesday 22nd of June 2021 coronavirus vaccinations are expanded to 12–15-year-old adolescents who belong to risk group 1 and 2.

The risk groups are the same for children as the risk groups for adults that were decided earlier for the coronavirus vaccination order. The only divergence from the risk groups for adults is overweight: THL recommends that children’s body mass index ISO-BMI is used when assessing overweight in children. It is recommended that the lower limit for ISO-BMI is 35, which in this age group means severe overweight.

Soite’s chief physician of paediatrics Andreas Blanco Sequeiros has studied the national research into coronavirus vaccinations for 12–15-year-old persons and recommends similarly to THL that all who have a right to a vaccination book an appointment for a vaccination.

As with other vaccinations, a person who is under 18 years old may make a decision about the coronavirus vaccination if a health care professional assesses that the person is due to his/her age and level of development capable of making decisions on his/her own care. There is no age limit for a child’s right of self-determination. That is why the situation is assessed case by case.

I an adolescent is not capable of making decisions on his/her care, e.g. because of an illness, a decision on vaccinating requires permission by the parents or other persons who has custody of the adolescent. In such a case, Soite’s paediatric outpatient clinic should be contacted.

At this point, coronavirus vaccinations are possible in the age group 12–15 only for those who belong to a risk group. The Finnish Government decides if vaccinations will become available for all 12–15-year-old persons. This would require e.g. changing a decree. 12–15-year-old adolescents who belong to a risk group are vaccinated with Pfizer-BioNTech’s Comirnaty vaccines, as it is the only coronavirus vaccine that has marketing authorization at this point for vaccination of persons over the age of 12. More information on coronavirus vaccines and answers to frequently asked questions can be found on THL’s website.

Appointment booking for a coronavirus vaccination

More appointments are added to the appointment booking calendars tomorrow Tuesday 22nd of June 2021.Appointments are added for about a week. In other words, tomorrow, appointments are added for the rest of the week and for next week.

The telephone booking for coronavirus vaccinations opens again on Tuesday 22nd of June 2021 at 12 pm on 06 828 7488 and more appointments are also opened in the electronic Omahoito service on Tuesday at 12 pm. Vaccination appointments are added to the electronic appointment booking even at other times depending on the situation.

An appointment may be booked electronically via the Omahoito service if the adolescent has the codes that are needed for electronic identification (online banking codes or a mobile certificate). If electronic identification is not possible, an appointment should be booked by phone. We strive to expand the possibilities of booking appointments by phone in the future and will inform about this on Soite’s coronavirus vaccination page.

Soite’s coronavirus vaccination indicator has been updated

Soite’s coronavirus vaccination indicator has been updated. In all, 76% of the citizens in Central Ostrobothnia health care district over the age of 16 have now received their first vaccine dose. 24% of the persons over the age of 16 in the area have received their second vaccine dose. When it comes to all citizens, 59% have received their first dose.

The coronavirus vaccinations take us towards a more normal life — one vaccination at a time! Coronavirus vaccines give effective protection against the coronavirus disease and especially its more serious forms. If you are vaccinated you also protect other people from coronavirus infections.
