Information on the 24th of May 2021 on the situational picture in Soite regarding the coronavirus — 5 new infections

The current situation of infection

Five new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Soite’s area. The cases are part of the same extensive chain of infections we have informed about lately.

Three COVID-19 patients are currently being treated at Central Ostrobothnian Central Hospital.

Over 75% of the infections that have been confirmed lately, have been confirmed in people who were already in quarantine, but infections are still also being confirmed among people who are not in quarantine. There is still a risk that new extensive exposure situations can occur. The list of all possible places of exposure can be found at:

The key figures in the situational picture have been updated:

  • The number of coronavirus cases during the last 14 days: 168 (a week ago: 124)
  • The incidence of infections during the last 14 days/100 000 citizens: 217 (a week ago: 160)
  • Three COVID-19 patients are currently being treated at Central Ostrobothnia’s central hospital.
  • 1.7% of the coronavirus tests are positive (a week ago:  2.9%). During week 20, a record number of coronavirus tests were taken: 3736 tests.
  • The number of coronavirus infections that have been confirmed in Soite since the pandemic began: 451
  • The epidemiological situation in Central Ostrobothnia: community transmission phase

Due to the worsening of the corona situation in the Central Ostrobothnia region, the Regional State Administrative Agency of Western and Inland Finland has on 21st of May decided on a safety distance regulations in accordance with section 58 d of the Communicable Diseases Act. Operators in the Central Ostrobothnia Hospital District must ensure that close contact between persons can be effectively avoided in rooms that are open to the public or intended for use by a limited number of clients or participants. Close contact means physical contact or presence face-to-face or in the same space at a distance less than two meters apart and for longer than 15 minutes. Operators must make a written plan for how they will enable the public and clients to avoid close contact. If it is not possible to meet the requirements of the law, the premises cannot be used. Additional information in the Regional State Administrative Agency’s message (in Finnish).
