Soite remains on the coronavirus base level — no new coronavirus cases
Central Ostrobothnia’s regional COVID-19 authority task group gathered on Wednesday 17th of March 2021 to evaluate the regional situational picture as well as the regional recommendations. Soite’s are remains on the coronavirus base level. The current regional coronavirus recommendations remain in effect until 31st March of 2021. No new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Soite’s area today.
Last week (week 10), a total of 5 new coronavirus infections were confirmed in Soite’s area. The percentage of positive samples was 0.3 % (the number of tests 1745) The incidence of infections during 14 days is 20.5/100 000 citizens. No COVID-19 patients are currently being treated at the Central Hospital. All the recent sources of infection have been traced to a 100 %.
The coronavirus vaccinations have progressed well. According to the information available as of 15th of March 2021, the vaccination percentage among persons over the age of 80 is 86 %. The vaccination coverage for risk group 1 was 37%. Vaccinations continue this week. This week we expanded the appointment booking beyond what was previously planned so that persons aged 70 to 74 were also allowed to book appointments, as there were still appointment times available in the area for next week’s corona vaccinations.
The coronavirus situation in the area has remained calm. Therefore, current recommendations will remain unchanged and Soite continues on the coronavirus base level. A significant reason for the calm situation is that citizens in the area have carefully complied with corona safety guidelines. The authority task group wants to extend their thanks to the local citizens for following the coronavirus guidelines.
However, the group also expresses concern regarding groups of adults gathering to participate in hobbies. In order for the epidemic to remain at the current base level, we would like to remind everyone of the current recommendation to pause any indoor hobby activities for adults. This is particularly important regarding team and contact sports as well as choir practices. Lately, infections related to team sports have occurred in Finland and in Soite’s area. We would also like to remind everyone that private hobby groups (groups of friends) are considered private social gatherings, where recommendations state no more than 10 people should participate.
Maintaining a calm coronavirus situation requires every possible safety measures and that everyone behaves responsibly in their everyday life.
The regional COVID-19 authority task group has its next meeting on Wednesday 24th of March 2021.
