Soite remains on the coronavirus base level — one new coronavirus case has been confirmed
Central Ostrobothnia’s regional COVID-19 authority task group gathered on Wednesday 24th of March 2021 to evaluate the regional situational picture as well as the regional recommendations. Soite’s area remains at the coronavirus base level. The regional recommendations remain in effect until the 18th of April 2021. One new coronavirus case has been confirmed in Soite’s area.
Last week (week 11) a total of 6 new coronavirus infections were confirmed in Soite’s area. 29 people were quarantined. The percentage of positive samples was 0.4 % (number of tests was circa 1500) The incidence of infections during the last 14 days is 14/100,000 citizens. No patients are currently being treated at the Central Hospital because of COVID-19. All the recent sources of infection have been traced to a 100%.
The coronavirus vaccinations have progressed well. According to the information available as of 22nd of March 2021, the percentage of persons over the age of 80 who have received their first vaccine dose is 90%. Of persons aged 75 to 79 years, 91% have received their first vaccine dose. Vaccinations of 70–74-year-olds have also begun and in this group, 28% have received their first vaccine dose. The vaccination coverage for risk group 1 is about 45%. A total of 21.7% of the residents in Soite’s area who have a right to coronavirus vaccination have received their first dose.
The coronavirus situation in the area has remained calm. Therefore, current recommendations will remain unchanged and Soite continues at the coronavirus base level. Current regional recommendations remain in effect until the 18th of April 2021. Maintaining a calm coronavirus situation requires every possible safety measure and that everyone behaves responsibly in their everyday life. The most important current regional recommendations are:
- max 10 participants at private gatherings
- indoor hobby groups for adults have been paused
- hobby groups for children and young persons (0-20 years old) allowed as long as there are fewer than 20 participants
- swimming halls, libraries and other public places are open with special arrangements
- the expanded recommendation regarding the use of protective masks also applies to students in grades 7 to 9 and at upper secondary institutes (vocational training and upper secondary school)
The Regional State Administrative Agency will give a new directive regarding the restrictions on participants approximately during this week.

The situation today
One new coronavirus case has been confirmed in Soite’s area. The chain of infection has been traced and the person infected was already in quarantine, and thus no new exposures have taken place.
