Soite remains at the coronavirus base level – two new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Soite’s area
Central Ostrobothnia’s regional COVID-19 authority task group gathered on Wednesday 24th of February 2021 to evaluate the regional situational picture as well as the regional recommendations. Soite remains at the coronavirus base level and current recommendations remain in effect until 15th of March 2021. Two new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Soite’s area.
During last week (week 7) a total of 11 new coronavirus infections were confirmed in Soite’s area. 50 people were placed in quarantine. Over the past 14 days, a total of 17 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Soite and the incidence of infections during the last 14 days is currently 21.8 /100 000 citizens No COVID-19 patients are currently being treated at the Central Hospital.
Despite the partly worrying development of the corona situation, the authority task group concluded that Soite’s area will remain at the base level when it comes to the coronavirus, as the situations have been well-managed and traceable. The current regional coronavirus recommendations remain in effect until 15th of March 2021. It is especially important to try to avoid groups and reduce all social contact as much as possible and of course to follow the hygiene instructions in order to prevent further coronavirus infections.
It is recommended that those who participate in the matriculation examinations place themselves in voluntary quarantine to avoid social contacts for 14 days before the start of the examinations. Additional information in THL’s message (in Finnish).
The directive from the Regional State Administrative Agency (Aluehallintovirasto) regarding a maximum of 20 participants at public events and gatherings, both indoors and outdoors, is in effect until 1st of March 2021. The Regional State Administrative Agency will give a new directive regarding the restrictions on participants during this week. The Regional State Administrative Agency strongly recommends avoiding all physical gatherings if one does not have to organize them. Within Soite’s area, the regional authority group still recommends that no private gatherings with more than 10 participants should be arranged.

The authority task group also wishes to remind everyone of the update of the Communicable Diseases Act, which came to effect on Monday 22 February 2021, and in particular §58c of the Act, which obliges all actors in the Soite area, such as private companies, foundations, municipalities and joint municipalities and religious communities and bodies governed by public law to within their premises act to prevent the spread of the corona epidemic. In practice, this means that the possibility of maintaining safety distances and washing one’s hands have to be ensured for all clients and participants visiting the premises. Furthermore, instructions regarding how to prevent the spread of infections have to be formulated. The Act also states that workspaces and surfaces have to be thoroughly cleaned.
The regional COVID-19 authority task group has its next meeting on Wednesday 3rd of March 2021. If new national guidelines are issued, the authority task group may meet earlier than this.
Two new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Soite’s area. The chains of infection have been traced and those infected were already in quarantine since before the infections were confirmed.
