Soite’s area enters the community transmission phase
Central Ostrobothnia’s regional COVID-19 authority task group gathered for an extra meeting on Friday October 8th 2021 to evaluate the regional situation as well as the regional recommendations. The task group declared that Soite’s area will be reclassified as being in the community transmission phase of the coronavirus epidemic.
The coronavirus situation in Central Ostrobothnia has significantly worsened during the past week. Over the past 14 days, a total of 80 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Soite and the incidence of infections during 14 days is currently 103/100,000 citizens. 3% of the coronavirus tests are positive. Eight COVID-19 patients are currently being treated at Central Ostrobothnia central hospital. One of the patients is in the intensive care unit.
Most of the infections have been confirmed in young people and young adults in the area. Infections are most prevalent in people aged 10 to 19 years and 20 to 29 years. The majority of infections were infections that occurred within the family and during hobby activities.
The task group declared that Soite’s area will be reclassified as being in the community transmission phase of the coronavirus epidemic. The motivation for the move to the community transmission phase is the large number of coronavirus infections and the rapid increase in the hospital’s workload.
The regional COVID-19 authority task group is concerned with the situation in the area, because if the need for hospital care for covid patients continues to increase, it will require decreased activity for example in Soite’s surgeries and clinics.
The authority task group recommends the residents of the area to be extra careful in making sure they follow the current recommendations and regulations.
All current regulations and recommendations regarding the coronavirus epidemic within Soite’s area are listed on Soite’s corona website: https://korona.soite.fi/en/recommendations/
Furthermore, the authorities would like to remind everyone of the importance of getting vaccinated in order to keep the epidemic in check.
Vaccinations are now progressing with regards to all persons over the age of 12 who live in Soite’s area. Read more on Soite’s corona website: https://korona.soite.fi/en/the-coronavirus-vaccines/
The regional COVID-19 authority work group will hold its next meeting on Wednesday 13th of October 2021 to assess the regional coronavirus situation and recommendations. If there are changes in the regional coronavirus situation, the authority task group will convene if necessary. The authority group consists of experts from the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL), the Regional State Administrative Agency (AVI), Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment (ELY) and Soite.
