Soite’s area is still on base level: a strong recommendation on face masks is in effect
Soite’s coronavirus task group discussed the coronavirus situation in the area at its meeting on Monday 5th of October 2020 and discussed moving more personnel resources to infection prevention.
Later on Friday, the group of regional authorities also had a meeting. The group consists of Soite, the Regional State Administrative Agencies, The Finnish institute for health and welfare THL and the Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment. The group assessed the situational picture concerning the coronavirus epidemic in Central Ostrobothnia and deemed Soite’s area to be still on the base level when it comes to the epidemic, despite an increased number of coronavirus cases.
In Soite’s area, the criteria for the acceleration stage are met only when it comes to incidence. The incidence is currently 17.9/100 000 citizens. The share of positive test results of all coronavirus tests is, however, still under 1 % and almost 100% of the chains of infections have been traced.
The group of regional authorities supported the recommendation on wider use of face masks in the area that Soite issued earlier. Soite strongly recommends widespread use of face masks in public spaces, stores and in other places when running errands outside the home. The recommendation on the use of face masks also applies to upper secondary institutes (vocational training and upper secondary school) and to universities of applied sciences and universities. In this situation, it is important to use Soite’s personnel resources in infection prevention. This will lead to changes in Soite’s units.
