Soite’s area re-classified as base level – recommendations remain largely unchanged until 14th of February 2021

Central Ostrobothnia’s regional COVID-19 authority task group gathered on Tuesday 13th of January 2021 to evaluate the regional situational picture as well as the regional directives and recommendations. Soite’s area will be re-classified as base level, but recommendations remain largely unchanged until 14th of February 2021. The recommendations will be eased for swim centres and libraries. No mask recommendation will be given for primary schools due to the area being on base level.

The coronavirus incidence corresponds to the definition of the base level in Soite’s area: The incidence of infections during the last 14 days/100 000 citizens is 7.7 and of the coronavirus tests 0.2% of the coronavirus tests are positive. The situation in the area has remained calm for a few weeks already.  Central Ostrobothnia’s COVID-19 authority task group decided that Central Ostrobothnia remains in the acceleration phase of the coronavirus pandemic.

Since the coronavirus situation on a national level still is serious, no recommendations can be significantly eased. The following changes will be made to the regional corona recommendations in Central Ostrobothnia:

  • Swim centres can re-open with special arrangements starting from 18.1.2021. In the swim centres, adequate safety distances and hygiene have to be maintained. To enable proper safety distancing, only about every fourth changing cubicle should be kept open for use, and the total number of people attending the sauna/showers at any given time should be limited.
  • The reading rooms at libraries can be open provided hygiene recommendations are observed.
  • The regional facial mask recommendations concern students on the secondary-school level and above. According to the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare, the facial mask recommendation does not concern primary schools in a base level area.

The restrictions regarding social gatherings and other recommendations regarding the coronavirus situation remain unchanged and in force until 14th of February 2021. Within Soite’s area, it is recommended that no private gatherings with more than 10 participants should be arranged. Current directives and recommendations regarding the acceleration phase within Soite’s area are listed on Soite’s corona website:

The Regional State Administrative Agency will during the rest of the week give an updated directive regarding the number of participants during public occasions and meetings.

No new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Soite’s area. The latest positive coronavirus infection in the area was confirmed on 10th of January 2021. No patients with COVID-19 are currently being treated at the Central Ostrobothnia Central Hospital. The regional situational picture can be found at Soite’s corona website.
