Soite’s coro­n­avirus task group informs on the 14th of Sep­tem­ber 2020

Soite’s coro­n­avirus task group has a meet­ing on Mon­days, Thurs­days and when need­ed and it updates the sit­u­a­tion­al pic­ture. The prepa­ra­tions are pro­ceed­ing accord­ing to plan.

One new coro­n­avirus case has been con­firmed in Soite’s area. The case is linked to the chain of infec­tion that was con­firmed in Lesti­järvi dur­ing the week­end. The infect­ed per­son is in home iso­la­tion. Over­all, 40 coro­n­avirus infec­tions have now been con­firmed in Soite’s area.

Most of the coro­n­avirus test results con­cern­ing res­i­dents and per­son­nel at the senior hous­ing unit Kotipirt­ti in Lesti­järvi have now come, and no new coro­n­avirus cas­es have been found in the unit. It is, how­ev­er, still pro­hib­it­ed to vis­it Kotipirtti.

Soite mod­i­fies its coro­n­avirus process­es this week. A new dri­ve-in test­ing site is opened in Kokko­la and the open­ing hours for the coro­n­avirus helpline are extend­ed. Fur­ther­more, the coro­n­avirus test­ing process is improved by mak­ing it pos­si­ble for clients to receive the test results as a text mes­sage on their mobile phone. Soite has also updat­ed its instruc­tions con­cern­ing coro­n­avirus test­ing for chil­dren in accor­dance with the spec­i­fi­ca­tion Thl made on 11th of Sep­tem­ber 2020. A school-age child should always be test­ed for the coro­n­avirus if s/he has symp­toms that fit the coro­n­avirus. A link to the instruc­tions is on the page Instruc­tions in Finnish.

Soite also spec­i­fies the rec­om­men­da­tion on face masks in Cen­tral Ostro­both­nia by adding that the rec­om­men­da­tion also applies to trans­port of per­sons who belong to an at-risk group:

A rec­om­men­da­tion on the use of face masks applies to Cen­tral Ostro­both­nia. A face mask is one method for pre­vent­ing the spread of coro­n­avirus infections.

The use of face masks is rec­om­mend­ed for peo­ple over the age of 15:

  • in public transport and in the transport of persons who belong to an at-risk group
  • when going to coronavirus tests
  • when returning to Finland from a risk country
  • face masks can also be used in other      situations, if it is impossible to maintain safe social distances.

It is, how­ev­er, still of utmost impor­tance to main­tain a safe­ty dis­tance of 1–2 meters any­time this is pos­si­ble, to wash one’s hands, to cough into one’s elbow or into a dis­pos­able hand­ker­chief, to avoid touch­ing one’s face and to avoid pub­lic places if one has symptoms.
