Soite’s coronavirus task group informs on the 14th of September 2020

Soite's coronavirus task group has a meeting on Mondays, Thursdays and when needed and it updates the situational picture. The preparations are proceeding according to plan.

One new coronavirus case has been confirmed in Soite’s area. The case is linked to the chain of infection that was confirmed in Lestijärvi during the weekend. The infected person is in home isolation. Overall, 40 coronavirus infections have now been confirmed in Soite’s area.

Most of the coronavirus test results concerning residents and personnel at the senior housing unit Kotipirtti in Lestijärvi have now come, and no new coronavirus cases have been found in the unit. It is, however, still prohibited to visit Kotipirtti.

Soite modifies its coronavirus processes this week. A new drive-in testing site is opened in Kokkola and the opening hours for the coronavirus helpline are extended. Furthermore, the coronavirus testing process is improved by making it possible for clients to receive the test results as a text message on their mobile phone. Read the article for more information.

Soite has also updated its instructions concerning coronavirus testing for children in accordance with the specification Thl made on 11th of September 2020. A school-age child should always be tested for the coronavirus if s/he has symptoms that fit the coronavirus. A link to the instructions is on the page Instructions in Finnish.

Soite also specifies the recommendation on face masks in Central Ostrobothnia by adding that the recommendation also applies to transport of persons who belong to an at-risk group:

A recommendation on the use of face masks applies to Central Ostrobothnia. A face mask is one method for preventing the spread of coronavirus infections.

The use of face masks is recommended for people over the age of 15:

  • in public transport and in the transport of persons who belong to an at-risk group
  • when going to coronavirus tests
  • when returning to Finland from a risk country
  • face masks can also be used in other      situations, if it is impossible to maintain safe social distances.

It is, however, still of utmost importance to maintain a safety distance of 1–2 meters anytime this is possible, to wash one’s hands, to cough into one’s elbow or into a disposable handkerchief, to avoid touching one’s face and to avoid public places if one has symptoms.
