Soite’s coro­n­avirus task group informs on the 15th of Feb­ru­ary 2021

Soite’s coro­n­avirus task group has a meet­ing on Mon­days, Thurs­days and when need­ed and it updates the sit­u­a­tion­al pic­ture. The pre­pared­ness is in accor­dance with plan.

The cur­rent sit­u­a­tion of infection

No new coro­n­avirus cas­es have been con­firmed in Soite’s area today.  Dur­ing the week­end, two new infec­tions were con­firmed and both were linked to the Skelleft­eå chain of infec­tion. 15 infec­tions and 2 fur­ther infec­tions have come to Soite’s area from the Skelleft­eå chain, in total 17 infec­tions. So far, nine of these have been con­firmed to be the British muta­tion of the coronavirus.

In Soite’s area there are now a total of 14 peo­ple infect­ed with coro­n­avirus and an addi­tion­al 55 who have been exposed to coro­n­avirus, and all of these are in quar­an­tine and under observation.

The key fig­ures in the sit­u­a­tion­al pic­ture have been updated:

  • The number of coronavirus cases during the last 14 days: 15 (the previous number was 18)
  • The incidence of infections during the last 14 days/100 000 citizens: 19 (the previous number was 23)
  • No patients with COVID-19 are currently being treated at the Central Ostrobothnia Central Hospital.
  • 0.4% of the coronavirus tests are positive. During week 6, 1380 people were tested for coronavirus in Soite.
  • The number of coronavirus infections that have been confirmed in Soite since the pandemic began: 196
  • The traceability of chains of infection is 80% in the hospital district
  • The epidemiological situation in Central Ostrobothnia: base level

The Finnish Insti­tute for Health and wel­fare has updat­ed the rec­om­men­da­tions regard­ing the Koron­av­ilkku coro­n­avirus app: in the future, all users who have received a noti­fi­ca­tion regard­ing expo­sure will be urged to seek out coro­n­avirus test­ing, even if they do not expe­ri­ence any symp­toms at all. Appli­ca­tion updates relat­ed to the new mod­el of oper­a­tion will be car­ried out for the Koron­av­ilkku app and the Omaolo coro­n­avirus symp­toms eval­u­a­tion on the 4th of March 2021, accord­ing to the Finnish Insti­tute for Health and welfare.


This week, the admin­is­tra­tion of the sec­ond dose of the vac­cine will begin for Soite’s per­son­nel. Next, the coro­n­avirus vac­ci­na­tions will be extend­ed to mid­wives and employ­ees with­in the social services.

Coro­n­avirus vac­ci­na­tions for the elder­ly are pro­gress­ing with­in Soite’s area. All of the res­i­dents and most of the per­son­nel at around-the-clock care home units have now been vac­ci­nat­ed. The appoint­ment book­ing to coro­n­avirus vac­ci­na­tions for elder­ly per­sons above the age of 80 who live at home and their infor­mal care­givers as well as oth­er elder­ly per­sons (over the age of 70, e.g. spous­es) who live in the same house­hold will open again next week on Tues­day 16th of Feb­ru­ary at 12 noon.

Next week, the coro­na vac­ci­na­tions in Soite’s area will be expand­ed to peo­ple under the age of 70 who belong to risk group 1 At first, peo­ple from this group who attend check-ups at Soite (such as trans­plan­ta­tion and can­cer patients) will be vac­ci­nat­ed.  They will be per­son­al­ly con­tact­ed by phone so that a vac­ci­na­tion appoint­ment can be agreed on.

The lim­it­ed activ­i­ty at Koivuha­ka health cen­ter will con­tin­ue until 7th of May 2021: you can vis­it a doc­tor or a nurse at Koivuha­ka health cen­ter only by book­ing an appoint­ment beforehand.
