Soite’s coronavirus task group informs on the 1st of February 2021
Soite’s coronavirus task group has a meeting on Mondays, Thursdays and when needed and it updates the situational picture. The preparedness is in accordance with plan.
The current situation of infection
Two new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Soite’s area. The chains of infection have been traced and no new exposures have occurred, as those infected were already in quarantine.
No patients with COVID-19 are currently being treated at the Central Ostrobothnia Central Hospital.
The key figures in the situational picture have been updated:
- The number of coronavirus cases during the last 14 days: 21 (the previous number was 16)
- The incidence of infections during the last 14 days/100 000 citizens: 25.6 (the previous number was 20.5)
- 0.8% of the coronavirus tests are positive.
- The number of coronavirus infections that have been confirmed in Soite since the pandemic began: 179
- The traceability of chains of infection is 80% in the hospital district
- The epidemiological situation in Central Ostrobothnia: base level
During week 4, 1300 coronavirus tests were done in Soite. It is very important that you seek out coronavirus testing early, even if you have only mild symptoms, so that the chains of infection do not begin to spread!
Coronavirus vaccinations are progressing within Soite’s area. Currently, personnel and elderly residents at Soite’s around-the-clock care home units for the elderly are being vaccinated. Additionally, Soite’s critical personnel that perform corona-related work are currently being given their second dose of the corona vaccine.
Today, appointment booking for mass vaccination of the population in Soite’s area against the coronavirus was opened. Appointment booking for the first mass vaccination group (elderly persons above the age of 80 who live at home as well as informal caregivers and other elderly persons who live in the same household) was opened 10 am this morning and all vaccination appointment times were filled by 1 pm. Vaccinations begin in Soite on Thursday 4th of February 2021.
The appointment booking was contacted a record number of times. During the first hour, the appointment booking for the corona vaccination was contacted almost 2000 times. Only about 300 vaccine doses will be available during the first mass vaccinations due to the small supply of corona vaccines nationally. Thus, there are currently not enough vaccinations appointments for everyone.
There were some technical challenges in the appointment booking due to the great number of phone calls. The electronic appointment booking ran more smoothly and we recommend that you book your appointment online if possible.
During the appointment booking, persons are also placed in queue. It is possible to come to a corona vaccination from the queue if someone cancels their appointment or if the vaccine bottles yield more doses than expected. Those waiting in the queue for their turn will be personally contacted on the day of the vaccination if the vaccination can be done that day. A person who is waiting in the queue does not have to book a new vaccination appointment; instead, they will be contacted by Soite and offered a vaccination appointment placed in the following vaccination week.
Appointment booking for next mass vaccination against corona will be opened at the start of next week and we recommend that you follow Soite’s information about the specifics of the timetable. Next week more coronavirus vaccines will be available than this week. You can book an appointment to any of the corona vaccination sites.
You can follow how the vaccination progresses in the area with the help of Soite’s corona vaccination indicator, which is updated on Mondays at the address: https://korona.soite.fi/en/the-coronavirus-vaccines/
