Stricter recommendations regarding gatherings in Soite’s area

Central Ostrobothnia’s regional COVID-19 authority task group gathered on Tuesday May 18th 2021 to evaluate the regional situational picture as well as the regional recommendations regarding the coronavirus epidemic. Soite’s area is in the community transmission phase, and thus the authority group has issued stricter regional recommendations regarding social gatherings: max 6 people indoors and  max 10 people outdoors.

The incidence of infections during 14 days is 160/100.000 residents in the entire Soite area (situation 17th of May 2021). The coronavirus infections are currently mainly spreading among children and young people, who make up two thirds of the coronavirus cases. Circa 2.9 percent of the coronavirus tests are positive. It has been possible to trace about 70 percent of the recent infections on an individual level and the place or event that served as source of the infection can be traced in about 90 percent of the cases. One COVID-19 patient is currently being treated at Central Ostrobothnia’s central hospital.

Soite’s area is in the community transmission phase of the coronavirus epidemic, and so the regional recommendations have to be updated to match this phase. The changes to the recommendations are the following:

  • No private gatherings with more than 6 participants should be arranged indoors. The recommended number of participants at private gatherings outdoors is at most 10 people. Safety distances should be maintained even outdoors.
  • Swimming pools, spas and public saunas will be closed.
  • Youth centres, libraries and gyms run by the municipalities and similar facilities will be closed.
  • Museums and theatres may be kept open by special arrangements if the Regional State Administrative Agency’s current restrictions for social gatherings are followed.

The current regional coronavirus recommendations are in effect starting 19th of May and until 1st of June 2021. If the coronavirus situation in the area begins to calm down, it may possible to lighten the recommendations before this spring’s graduation parties. We hope that everyone carefully follows the recommendations regarding social gatherings and the hygiene instructions regarding prevention of the spread of infections. It is now very important to keep the number of close contacts to a minimum and to be mindful of proper use of face masks, maintain a safety distance of 2 meters and exercise good hand hygiene. Unnecessary social gatherings should be avoided!

All regional regulations and recommendations regarding the coronavirus epidemic within Soite’s area are listed on Soite’s corona website:

The regional COVID-19 authority task group has its next meeting on Friday 21st of May 2021.

We urge everyone who has even mild symptoms indicative of coronavirus to quickly seek out coronavirus testing. You should not go outside your home even if you have only mild symptoms!
