Soite’s coronavirus task group informs on the 24th of June 2021 — no new coronavirus cases
Soite’s coronavirus task group has a meeting on Thursdays. The preparedness is in accordance with plan.
The current situation of infection
No new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Soite’s area. The regional incidence is currently 0/100 000 citizens in 14 days. One person who has been infected with the coronavirus is cared for at the Central Ostrobothnia Central Hospital.
In accordance with the decision by the group of authorities, Soite’s area continues on the baseline when it comes to the coronavirus epidemic (more information in yesterday’s message). No restrictions on gatherings ordered by the Regional State Administrative Agency or regional recommendations regarding gatherings are in effect in the area. A wider recommendation on the use of face masks is no longer in effect in public spaces, but it is still recommended that face masks are used in situations where it is impossible to maintain safe distances (more information: the regional recommendation on the use of face masks). Special caution should be taken when travelling to EU and Schengen areas, and trips outside these areas should be avoided. Please follow the instructions from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Finland and the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare THL.
All the regional regulations and recommendations regarding the coronavirus epidemic within Soite’s area are listed on Soite’s corona website.
The coronavirus vaccinations of the citizens are progressing well in Soite’s area. The vaccinations of the citizens within Soite are progressing with regards to all persons over the age of 16 as well as 12–15-year-old adolescents who belong to risk group 1 and 2.
There are a relative good number of vaccination appointments available and more are added all the time as soon as the time of arrival of new vaccines is confirmed. The goal is to add appointments for at least one week at a time. If you book an appointment now, the second vaccination is given after 12 weeks. An effective protection against a coronavirus infection is then achieved in the autumn (more information on the efficacy of vaccines on the website of the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare THL). The coronavirus vaccinations take us towards a more normal life — one vaccination at a time! A vaccine gives you protection against the serious forms of the coronavirus disease and if you are vaccinated you help protect others.
An appointment for a vaccination can be booked online on the web in Soite’s Omahoito service.
The telephone booking for coronavirus vaccinations opens again on Tuesday 29th of June 2021 at 12 pm and more appointments are also opened in the electronic Omahoito service on Tuesday at 12 pm The Omahoito service is open 24/7. The days that still have appointments available are marked with green colour in the web calendar.
You can follow how the vaccinations progress in the area with the help of Soite’s coronavirus vaccination indicator, which is updated on Mondays.
The Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare THL recommends expanding vaccinations to all 12–15-year-old adolescents. More information can be found in the press release by THL (in Finnish). The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health and the Finnish Governments make the decision on the expansion. Preparations are made for this in Soite and we will inform later about when vaccinations begin for this group if such a decree should come in effect in Finland.

Let’s have a safe Midsummer
Soite’s coronavirus task group wishes everyone a sunny and safe Midsummer! Let’s remember the following, even though the regional coronavirus recommendations have been eased:
- to exercise good hygiene in order to prevent infections
- to keep safe distances
- to use a face mask when it is not possible to keep safe distances.
Coronavirus testing is available in Soite even during Midsummer and we ask everyone who has even just mild symptoms that fit the coronavirus to seek out coronavirus testing. One should not move outside the home even if one only has mild symptoms!
