Soite’s coro­n­avirus task group informs on the 27th of May 2021 — 5 new cases

Soite’s coro­n­avirus task group gath­ers main­ly on Thurs­days, but because of the wors­ened coro­n­avirus sit­u­a­tion, the group has gath­ered three times a week. The pre­pared­ness is in accor­dance with plan.

The cur­rent sit­u­a­tion of infection

Five new coro­n­avirus cas­es have been con­firmed in Soite’s area.  All cas­es were con­firmed among peo­ple who were already in quarantine.

Over 14 days, a total of 148 coro­n­avirus cas­es have been con­firmed in Soite’s area and the region­al inci­dence of infec­tions is cur­rent­ly 191 /100 000 cit­i­zens. Two COVID-19 patients are cur­rent­ly being treat­ed at Cen­tral Ostrobothnia’s cen­tral hospital.

The num­ber of coro­n­avirus infec­tions in Soite’s area have begun to decrease, but the sit­u­a­tion is still seri­ous. There is still a risk that new exten­sive expo­sure sit­u­a­tions can occur. The list of all pos­si­ble places of coro­n­avirus mass expo­sure can be found at:

In order for the coro­n­avirus sit­u­a­tion to calm down before sum­mer, it is very impor­tant that every­one care­ful­ly fol­lows the rec­om­men­da­tions regard­ing social gath­er­ings and the hygiene rec­om­men­da­tions for pre­ven­tion of the spread of infec­tions. It is now impor­tant to keep the num­ber of close con­tacts to a min­i­mum and to be mind­ful of prop­er use of face masks as well as to main­tain a safe­ty dis­tance of 2 meters and exer­cise good hand hygiene. Unnec­es­sary social gath­er­ings should be avoid­ed! We urge every­one who has even mild symp­toms indica­tive of coro­n­avirus to quick­ly seek out coro­n­avirus test­ing. You should not go out­side your home even if you have only mild symptoms!


Coro­n­avirus vac­ci­na­tions of the res­i­dents in Soite’s area are pro­gress­ing well. Cur­rent­ly, vac­ci­na­tion is open for all res­i­dents over the age of 45 as well as 16–64-year-old per­sons who belong to risk group 1 or 2 and have an ill­ness or con­di­tion that is very high­ly or high­ly pre­dis­pos­ing to severe coro­n­avirus dis­ease. On Tues­day next week, the coro­n­avirus vac­ci­na­tion appoint­ments will be opened for per­sons aged 40 to 44 years as well.

Appoint­ment book­ing by phone will open anew on Tues­day 1st of June 2021 at 12 noon and more appoint­ments will also become avail­able in the Oma­hoito elec­tron­ic appoint­ment book­ing sys­tem on Tues­day at 12 noon. Appoint­ment times will be added to the elec­tron­ic book­ing sys­tem at oth­er times as well if they become avail­able due to can­cel­la­tions or sud­den increas­es in the num­ber of vac­cines. The Oma­hoito ser­vice is open 24/7. Days on which appoint­ment times are avail­able will be marked with green in the web calendar.
