Soite’s area remains in the community transmission phase – the authority task group stresses the importance of following the coronavirus recommendations

The Central Ostrobothnia regional COVID-19 authority task group met on Wednesday 20th of October 2021 to assess the regional coronavirus situation and recommendations. The coronavirus situation is still serious in the Soite area and the area remains in the community transmission phase of the coronavirus epidemic. The authority task group stresses the importance of following the coronavirus recommendations and instructions.

The coronavirus situation is still serious in the Soite area. The incidence of infections during 14 days is currently 185/100.000 residents in the entire Soite area. The number of coronavirus tests taken has increased and last week a total of circa 1,500 coronavirus tests were taken, of which 4.9 percent were positive. Of the confirmed chains of infection, 85% have currently been traced. Seven COVID-19 patients are currently being treated at Central Ostrobothnia central hospital.

Coronavirus infections are mainly concentrated to those who have not been vaccinated or have only recently been vaccinated. Coronavirus infections are currently prevalent particularly among persons younger than 10 years (32%) and in the age group 10 to 19 years old (29%). The majority of infections were infections that occurred within the family. Other sources of infections have also been gatherings with acquaintances and friends, as well as workplaces, schools and day care. The list of possible exposures has been updated. The list of all possible exposures in Soite’s area can be found on: https://korona.soite.fi/en/possible-exposures-to-covid-19/

As per the authority task group’s decision, the Soite area remains in the community transmission phase of the coronavirus epidemic. The regional recommendations regarding social gatherings remain unchanged. The extensive facial mask recommendation as well as the recommendation regarding remote work in the form of a hybrid model is still in effect within Soite’s area. All current regulations and recommendations regarding the coronavirus epidemic within Soite’s area are listed on Soite’s corona website: https://korona.soite.fi/en/recommendations/

The authority task group wishes to remind everyone that, although there are currently no actual restrictions on social gatherings, coronavirus safety should still be taken into account during private events and meetings. The authority task group recommends that meetings be organized only after careful consideration and with organizers observing the hygiene guidelines related to the coronavirus epidemic. It is still recommended that you should maintain sufficient safety distances. Private events should be kept as small as possible and, if possible, the participants should be scheduled into smaller groups. For example, a guest book can be used to record the arrival and departure times of guests so that in the event of a possible exposure, those exposed can be traced. Organizers of events are responsible for the coronavirus safety during events.

Event organizers must ensure hygiene practices in accordance with § 58 c in the Communicable Diseases Act during an event in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. During gatherings, it must be ensured that:

  • it is possible for participants to wash their hands
  • crowds are avoided at for example points of sale and in areas where food or drink are served
  • there are spacious entry and exit arrangements and an adequate number of toilet facilities
  • contact surfaces are cleaned
  • the use of protective masks is recommended both indoors and outdoors if it is impossible to maintain safety distances
  • the size of the space is considered in relation to the participants, and that maintaining safety distances is possible
  • all guests have their own seating indoors and outdoors the possibility to maintain safety distances
  • participants are informed about coronavirus safety: only healthy persons participate in the event

Instructions for event organizers are found on Soite’s coronavirus website: https://korona.soite.fi/en/instructions-to-event-organizers/. Additional information can also be found on the Regional State Administrative Agency’s website.

The authority task group would like to remind everyone that you should not leave your home if you have even only mild symptoms of a respiratory infection. It is recommended that those who have not been vaccinated or who have received only one dose of the vaccine seek out coronavirus testing without delay and even if they have only very mild symptoms of a respiratory infection.

We still recommend that you avoid gatherings, follow hygiene guidelines for preventing infections, and use a face mask in accordance with regional recommendations.

We strongly recommend that you get fully vaccinated against the coronavirus, as the coronavirus does not seem to be going away and it will be difficult to avoid the disease in the future. The vaccine protects not only you but also the society as a whole. The effectiveness of the vaccinations is clear when looking at the current epidemic situation, as the infections are concentrated to those who have not been vaccinated or have only recently been vaccinated. It is significantly safer to encounter the coronavirus if you are vaccinated. The risks associated with the vaccine are significantly smallerthan those associated with a coronavirus infection. Link: Information about the coronavirus vaccination

Vaccinations will be done in Soite mainly during walk-in vaccination days without appointment booking, which means you can come to a coronavirus vaccination when it suits you best. The timetable for the walk-in days can be found on Soite’s coronavirus website: https://korona.soite.fi/en/the-coronavirus-vaccines/

The regional COVID-19 authority work group will hold its next meeting on Wednesday 27th of October 2021 to assess the regional coronavirus situation and recommendations. If there are changes in the regional coronavirus situation, the authority task group will convene if necessary. The authority group consists of experts from the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL), the Regional State Administrative Agency (AVI), Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment (ELY) and Soite.
