The coronavirus application Koronavilkku will be taken into use in Central Ostrobothnia

The Koronavilkku application is taken into use in the whole of Finland to help trace chains of coronavirus infection. The application has been added to app stores today Monday 31st August 2020. With the help of the application, people can take part in preventing the virus from spreading and in protecting their own health and the health of their loved ones. The application makes tracing those who have been exposed to the virus and breaking the chains of infection quicker. Local instructions on how to act if one has been exposed to the virus have been attached to the application.

Via Koronavilkku, a user of the app may be informed of a possible exposure and get information on how to act. Most importantly, a user of the app may anonymously notify others of their infection and thus help break chains of infection. An app user who has been notified of a possible exposure may ask a health care professional to contact them or may contact the health care themselves.

We have added instructions on Soite’s website korona.soite.fi on how to act if the Koronavilkku application notifies of an exposure to an infection.

  • If you have no symptoms, you do not need to contact Soite right away. Instead, you can wait and see if you get symptoms.
  • If you have symptoms that fit the coronavirus (symptoms of the cold, fever, stomach symptoms), you should make a symptom check-up in the application Omaolo or call Soite’s helpline on the coronavirus, 06 828 7499 (open every day from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) or other times the common emergency clinic,  06 826 4500 or Soite’s paediatric emergency clinic 06 826 4444.

The Koronavilkku application may be downloaded free-of-charge from app stores  on smartphones. Using the Koronavilkku application is voluntary, but the more people download it, the more helpful it will be. When the application has been developed, special care has been taken to?? basic rights, privacy protection and information security.
